Fostering Respect and Right Relations in Our Community

At First Unitarian Universalist RVA, we are bound together by a covenant of mutual respect, compassion, and right relationship. Our Courtesies of Community outline the shared guidelines and behavioral expectations that help us maintain a healthy, inclusive, and welcoming environment for everyone. By practicing active listening, assuming good intentions, and communicating with kindness, we actively honor the inherent worth and dignity of every person who walks through our doors. We invite all members, friends, and visitors to embrace these practices as we continue to grow and care for one another.

First Unitarian Universalist Church of Richmond

We are a community, first and foremost.  So, some common courtesies of being in community, please:

  • KITCHEN-SPECIFIC:  All food needs to be obviously labeled.
  • Consider NOT wearing perfume, for those among us who are sensitive to scents. It can cause headaches and asthma for some people.
  • We are a NUT-FREE building. Period.
  • Cameras are everywhere these days.  If you are taking pictures or video, please ask those in front of your camera if they mind?  And we go out of our way to avoid posting any identifiable pictures of children, even on our private pages.
  • If you borrow something, please return it.
  • If you use something, put it back where you found it.
  • If you use the last of something, please let Margaret know so we can replace it.
  • Regular tape damages paint; if you want to hang a flyer on a painted surface, please use the blue painter’s tape, which is on the Reception Desk.
  • If you leave something on the Reception Desk, please label it for the intended recipient.
